Some projects come through a brief. This one came through a friendship. Bennet is a Las Vegas hip-hop and soul artist — the kind of performer whose music sits in that honest space between feeling too much and saying too little. When he asked me to direct the video for "I Fucked Up The Mood," I didn't need a brief. I already knew the feeling he was trying to capture.
The video is narrative-driven — a relationship falling apart, a night that goes completely sideways. That kind of story lives or dies in the details: the look on someone's face before they say the wrong thing, the moment a room shifts. My job as director was to find those moments and let them breathe. As editor, to know which ones to keep. As motion graphics designer, to give the whole thing a visual language that felt as unstable and charged as the song itself.
Working with DP Tyler Stefanelli, we built something that felt personal — because it was. This is what creative direction looks like when there's no client approval process, no brand guidelines, no conversion goal. Just a story that needed to be told right.
